"Shattered"

This painting is something very different from what I normally paint.  It was
actually inspired from a reading from "A Blossom in the Desert", Lilias Trotter: based on 2 Cor 4:7, "we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us." Lilias quote (which she wrote about 100 years ago!) "We may know that we are but earthen pitchers, like Gideon's, with nothing of our own but the light within, and yet we may not have passed through the shattering that sheds the light forth." the word "shattering" really stood out to me...

Beauty from brokeness, God's light shine best through the darkness.

  1. This is the heart of the Gospel I think. Jesus came for us broken & shattered beyond remedy things. We are so very fragile & made merely from the clay of the ground & God's Ruach breath. Yet, what a mind-blowing thought that He, the God of the universe, sees each of us as a singular masterpiece; each & every one of us worth His very life. Having been through some of my own shattering; I fervent hope that I do shine a little brighter now...thank you for this beauty, Jerie...grateful... ❤❤❤
