Featured Artist

April and May I am the featured artist at the quaint Chapel Gallery in Delphi, Indiana. It was fun meeting new folks as they visited the day of the artist’s reception. It is always a good day when I can paint a demo piece. The exhibit is up until May 27.

Spring Explodes!

Inspired by my friend Nancy’s garden, i’ve so enjoyed teaching and painting daffodils, tulips, bluebells and lilacs from my own garden.  Enjoy the photos!

Some students had never painted before, others are on their way. All are enjoying the beauty of watercolor. It makes a teacher proud!

A Flamboyance of Flamingos

Yesterday was a complete awesome plein air event at the Indianapolis Zoo. The flamingos at the Flights of Fantasy totally won my heart.

Especially « Gronk » who strutted his stuff all day. He was raised by humans and thinks he is a human. He doesn't want anyone to be talker than him so he spends the day strutting with his neck stretched up, back and forth, all the while making nasal honks, grunts and growl sounds! So entertaining! Of course, I had to paint him.

How did one of the Flights of Fantasy know that I love to paint with water from the plein air site?

My nephew showed up!

How did I not get a photo of my friend Gwen that went with me for the adventure???

It was a fantastic, flamboyant day!

Two Year Hiatus!

After a two year hiatus, I am once again posting on my blog.  The lack of posts does not represent my art activity at all!  During these past two years I have painted more than ever, participated in exhibits, had a solo exhibit, have begun teaching watercolor classes at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette (Indiana) and Wesminster Village Lafayette, Indiana.

Currently I am teaching painting spring florals.

I have also begun teaching porcelain painting again after many years.  It was my first love that developed as I took classes here in Lafayette, Indiana in the 1970's.  As it turns out, my first porcelain teacher passed away and all of her supplies plus those of her porcelain painting friends, were donated to the Greater Lafayette Art Museum.  When I found out I could teach porcelain painting again, it was like a kiss from heaven!  My life has come full circle.

A new experience for me, I was juried into a paint out to support the Indianapolis Zoo.  April 15 I get to paint any animal, plant or what inspires me at the zoo. The paintings will be on display all summer and auctioned off at a gala in August.
I submitted a couple of my fine feathered friends paintings for the jury process.  I can't wait to see what inspires me at the zoo.
My submissions.

The Chapel Gallery in Delphi, Indiana, is a quaint venue.  This month I am the featured artist.  You can see (and purchase_ about 40 of my framed pieces plus matted originals as well as cards.

A quick peek!

This brings the blog briefly up to date for now.  More later!
