Upcoming Watercolor Classes

Teaching again at Paint Party, Salem, New Hampshire. Classes lined up until December. Info on the flyers.

Watercolor Abstracts????

Abstracts are not my usual  subject  for watercolors.  I love florals, landscapes, nature, subjects that are recognizable and  grab my heart. But.... there is a different process that  is a challenge and a delight -   painting  intuitively.  It has been said:

Energy and motion made visible – memories arrested in space” ― Jackson Pollock

“Art has a voice - let it speak.” ― Rochelle Carr

Abstract art was the equivalent of poetic expression; I didn’t need to use words, but colors and lines. – Etel Adnan

Teaching abstracts at Paint Party Salem NH was a great experience.   It is the titles that are the challenge.

Paintings of Clay Pots

During the student exhibit at the Henriott Group we had the privilege to use the corner conference room overlooking the Lafayette County Courthouse from the 6th floor, for a watercolor class.

15 students diligently painted for 2 hours, experimenting with three colors, a red, a blue and a yellow, to paint their version of a clay pot!

This is a lesson I've done before, and each time it is a playful experience for me!

Here are the  results.

"Practice Makes Perfect" Summer Classes

Sometimes we stress ourselves by expecting to complete a masterpiece each time we paint. In this class, we'll sketch and paint multiple studies using various techniques that can be incorporated into paintings such as these rock studies I painted in the last class.

Come and enjoy the experience of watercolors! Positive, directed teaching, handouts, demos.

Create Sketches and Studies of:

• rocks
• trees
• flowers
• clouds
• skies
• perspective
• and more!

Spring Flowers Class

April showers really do bring spring flowers.  I'm scheduled to have ankle surgery to tighten the tendons May 25th, but spring blossoms are too beautiful to miss the opportunity to paint.

On March 8th we'll spend the afternoon painting flowers that everyone brings to class.

A Rose is a Rose is a Rose

Several people have been asking for a class on painting roses.  So during the month of May, I will be offering a series of four classes on painting roses including technique, composition, rose structure and how to paint on a variety of surfaces, 104 lb weight watercolor paper, and yupo.

Fall Classes - Painting a Hearty Harvest

Students are asking when the fall classes will begin and what will be the subjects we'll paint.
I've just put together the registration flyer for "Painting a Hearty Harvest" that will begin September 29th.  Here is a snip it photo of the registration form that will soon be available as a download.  Until those crisp fall days are upon us - enjoy the beauties of summer and all the glory that God will be putting on display!
